The Company
Bennett Associates is a privately owned Engineering Design
Consultancy located in South Yorkshire. The work undertaken includes the design
of bespoke machines for use in the steel, offshore, power and construction
industries. In addition the traditional role of the Consulting Engineer is
undertaken in performing feasibility studies, failure investigation, technical
advice and as expert witness in litigation matters.
Recent projects include the mechanical design of prototype tooling
for the A380 Airbus, design of welding and inspection equipment for the offshore
industry, design and commissioning of millennium funded moveable bridges and the
design of tunnelling equipment.
The long term goal of the company is to continue to produce world
class innovative solutions to complex problems. To achieve this we require
innovative and highly skilled engineers with drive and enthusiasm to grow with
us.
The Role
The role is to provide general electrical support to projects
undertaken by Bennett Associates. To this end, expected duties will involve:-
- Preparing and reviewing electrical specifications for large
machines
- Preparing and reviewing cable size calculations in accordance
with the wiring regulations
- Design of safety circuits
- Review of panel design for use on Bennett Associates machines
- Preparation of PLC software
- Preparation of SCADA display and logging systems
Qualifications & Experience
Our general requirements are listed below. However, our key aim is
to enhance our team. The demonstration of an understanding of the interaction of
electrical and control systems with mechanical and hydraulic sub systems will be
looked upon very favourably. The successful candidate can expect to be
challenged outside of their current areas of specialisation. Training will
therefore be given where appropriate.
- Relevant degree and chartered status (or working towards
chartered status)
- Understanding of BS 7671 (the wiring regulations)
- Experience of industrial wiring in practice
- Software knowledge an advantage
